MicroSD

a soda can full of these could hold the entire Itunes music library

My first Apple IIe computer game was on a 5.25″ inch floppy disk, must have weighed in at a few hundred kilobytes. Eventually I had an awesome collection of 50 plus Macintosh games on 3.5″ floppies (1.4 megabytes each). My current phone (HTC Magic) takes MicroSD cards – 16gb carries a lot of high definition music files and images and it even has a Super Nintendo emulator but playing those games on the phone is reminiscent of using the “paddle” on the Apple IIe.

XKCD points out that it would take a refrigerator full of floppies to match a single microSD card and a soda can of microSD cards could hold the entire iTunes music library. Imagine what we will be able to store on our keychains in another 20 years… Mmmmm, that is crack for data junkies.
