Yellow Pages not afraid
Some great quotes from YP executives in today’s NZ Herald article – Online challenges the decider for directory service.
“The winners in this space, we are confident, will be the organisations that put New Zealand businesses in front of New Zealanders in the way that Kiwis actually want it.”
Couldn’t agree more!
“The likelihood that Google is going to put three or four hundred people on the street to gather the information that we gather is pretty minimal”
Hmm, also agreed, however… (You have to use the voice from He-Man saying ‘By the power of GreySkull…’ for this next bit)
By the power of open-source (sounded cool eh), Zenbu plans to put 100 times that number of people on the street to collect and give away that information.
Must suck to be the incumbent clinging to the life-raft of ‘proprietary’ in the sea change of ‘the internet’.

Newmarket & Remuera have been Zenbu’d
A big thank you to the Remuera Business Association and the Newmarket Business Association who assisted us in putting their shopping districts on the Zenbu map. You can now Find Everything in Remuera and Newmarket!
This gives us a geographical seed of information covering the central suburb triumvirate of Parnell, Newmarket and Remuera. It’ll be a good test of the viral nature of communities and to see what kind of uptake and interest Zenbu gets.
